How would you like to become a member of the Watch?

We are always looking for new recruits, whether it be for Watchmen or supporters. We re-enact the Elizabethan period from a time around 1595, although we also carry out some of our activities on the basis of earlier times, depending on the event. If you are hale and hearty, enjoy your history, like to be a part of a team, like to serve your community, etc, why not consider it.

If you have particular skills or fancy having a go at re-enacting generally, we welcome, archers, swordsmen, cooks, apothecaries, surgeons, musicians, dancers, singers, mummers, scribes, fools, etc. Family and friends are welcome. We like to encourage younger members too. If you don't have any skills - we will give them to you. We do regular drill practice, weapons training including archery (did you know that we organise the annual English Longbow 'Archer of the Fayre' contest in the Castle Park, as part of the Colchester Medieval Oyster Fayre?).

Please click here for a recruitment form. Alternatively, if you would like to find out more, before committing yourselves, why not come along to one of our events or to a drill session, as detailed on our events page.

Whilst the equipment that you will need to be a member can be quite expensive to buy, we will do what we can to gey you kitted out. Please do not be put off by this.

Oh! We also do a bit of feasting too!
